About Us
“Habitat for Humanity is building more than just houses. We are building communities and hope. We give strength to those in need. Instead of talking about the willingness to help and charity, we put faith into action” – Jimmy Carter, former US President-
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in approximately 70 countries. We believe in a world where everyone has a decent place to live, and we partner with families to help them achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.
Habitat for Humanity Vietnam (Habitat Vietnam) is a part of Habitat International and began operations in 2001. Our key intervention is on 1) housing improvement; 2) water and sanitation (WASH) solutions; 3) disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation (DRR-CCA) and 4) volunteer mobilization. Habitat Vietnam achieves this through innovative program and partnerships as well as mobilization of resources such as construction materials, volunteer labor and micro-finance mechanism. Habitat Vietnam also work on capacity building with training and awareness raising activities focusing on construction skills, household financial management, community-based DRR and WASH to home-owner and community members including school children and local authorities.
To date, Habitat Vietnam has served over 100,000 families through projects cover three regions in Vietnam such as Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen in the north; Quang Nam in the central; and Long An, Tien Giang, Dong Thap in the south.
