Kenan Foundation Asia (Kenan) is a registered, not - for - profit foundation dedicated to promoting results - oriented sustainable development in Southeast Asia with an emphasis on the Mekong Sub - region. Founded in 1996 with support from USAID, the Thai government, and the Kenan family, Kenan is headquartered in Bangkok and operates in Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Thailand. Leading corporations, governments, and multilateral organizations have entrusted Kenan to implement and manage over US $120 million in development projects. This funding has been utilized to implement more than 800 discrete projects in the fields of business and economic development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), education, public health, civil society capacity building, and sustainable tourism. In total, these projects have empowered over 3 ,5 million total beneficiaries, including teachers, students , small business owners, laborers, government officials, and community leaders. Since entering Vietnam in 1999, Kenan has worked with a range of local and international partners to support Vietnamese society. Kenan deepened its relationship with Vietnam in 2014 by opening an office in Hanoi that serves as the focal point for Kenan’s growing presence in the country. Kenan continue working hand in hand with vulnerable communities across Southeast Asia to develop human capital; build strong small businesses; and break down gender, digital and generational barriers to ensure people have their knowledge, skills and technology to thrive today, and tomorrow.
