Start-up and Innovation Hub (also known as Saigon Innovation Hub or SIHUB) is a government-backed centre under Department of Science and Technology (DOST) of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) focusing on constructing and supporting the Entrepreneurship and Innovation ecosystem in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam. The Centre origins from 3 scientific and technological organizations under DOST of HCMC, one of which was the Energy Conservation Center of Ho Chi Minh City who is the pioneer and the market leader in energy efficiency in Vietnam.
SIHUB emerges as an initiative to implement the model, the first of its kind in Vietnam, where the Government supports the Entrepreneurship and Innovation (E&I) ecosystem by connecting and sharing resources which is supported by the Asia Development Bank (ADB) and Mekong Business Initiative (MBI). The aim is to promote and build Ho Chi Minh City to become one of the leading startup and innovation hub in South East Asia.
In 2016, SIHUB was officially launched to introduce to the E&I community a supporting space for innovation and entrepreneurship. SIHUB?s motto is not to do things that the E&I community can do effectively by itself, but to focus on the tasks that require public resources. Its activities include building and supporting the E&I ecosystem to integrate it with the global community by connecting public-private resources and sharing these resources to the community.
