Vets With A Mission is a NGO carrying-out humanitarian programs and project. It was founded in 1989 by Vietnam veterans, and has eleven board of directors and advisors. One full-time and part-time employee in the US; one full-time employee in Vietnam.
Originally established to encourage reconciliation between veterans of North and South Vietnam, and the US, it’s focusing is now on healthcare initiatives and Vietnam veteran volunteerism.
VWAM has built thirty-two medical clinics, several health education buildings, renovated two orphanages, two churches, three homes for polio victims and the Women’s Center for Reproductive Health, shipped thirty-six cargo containers of medical-health supplies and equipment, sponsored seventy-one humanitarian medical or disaster relief teams to date (Two-thousands+ volunteers), established a Children’s Heart Surgery Program and Downs Syndrome Program, and sponsors medical-health training including a Village Lifesavers Program (Emergency First-Aid).
Recognized by the US State Department and the People’s Aid and Coordinating Committee as an of?cial NGO, VWAM is a 501 (c) (3) charitable corporation focusing its activities selectively in the Ho Chi Minh City area, Da Nang and Thua Thien Hue Provinces.
